Shawn Ragan served 8 years (2000-2008) as the pastor of the Meridian Church of God. He has taught four years of elementary ancient Greek and meets weekly with former students to do translation exercises from the Septuagint, the Greek New Testament, and the Church Fathers. He graduated magna cum laude from Boise State and is currently applying to graduate programs in late antiquity/early Christian history. He teaches classes on church history, has been a guest speaker on Jewish, Christian, and Roman history in schools, and conducts a workshop on ancient Roman coins. He and his family are now Orthodox Christians.

Research Interests: The Paschal 'Easter' date in the Council of Nicaea, and the move from the Jewish Passover to the Christian Pascha; the role of the Septuagint and the books of the Dead Sea Scrolls on the Messianic fervor of the 1st. c. B.C.; Constantine I the Great; the Hagia Sophia cathedral (Constantinople) from A.D. 326-532; numismatics; paleography; historiography and logic fallacies in writing.
